Long, long ago, the island was populated by the native race of equines called The Elbas, who were unlike any race ever heard of. They were very pleasing to the eye, and each carrying their own special gift or talent that was somehow linked to their specific aura. Unlike most islands, Elba was not divided into alliances, but stood united under their sole King and Queen. The King, Demitri, and Queen, Anisette, had the greatest gifts out of all the Elbas, immortality and the power to create new auras. Some say the auras were not a product of the royals, but came from the mystical City of Jade they resided in.
For hundreds of years the Elbas coexisted peacefully upon the island, until Demitri made a grave mistake. His queen, Anisette, had acquired a lover due to her King’s inability to pry himself away from his obsession of new auras, and had so skillfully kept her secret hidden from the public eye. After years Anisette was able to meet her black knight in the covering of night; but secrets could never be kept forever. Her lover had shared his encounters with a fellow ally, who then reported his knowledge to the King out of duty. Demitri flung himself into a fit of rage, thus sentencing the lover to death the following night. Anisette was inconsolable, and vanished into the City of Jade. The black aura Elba was created on a cold October night, some say the new aura was an extension of the King’s rage for his Queen’s snake of a lover, but others claim the black Aura to be a product of the Queen’s hatred for her King.
It wasn’t long before the inhabitance of Elba heard of the Royal affair, and lost all trust in their rulers. Riots and fits of rage broke out in all regions of the Island, thus causing the whole kingdom to split into their own separate alliances. The Lights, the Darks, and those who refused to conform to either, all ruled by their own set of rules. After the island broke apart, the King and Queen were nowhere to be found. Many auras died off during the first one hundred years without their Royal Elbas, some believing the magic, which kept the Elbas alive, left with them. Today, only five known auras still remain on this island, and are currently very rare.
The Elba King and Queen are believed to be alive, and living within the sealed doors of the City of Jade, along with their few remaining followers.
