Statistics and Laws [rules and ranks]

There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?

The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?

An Explanation

The Kingrefers to the title of the stallion who has claimed and holds Larkspur Valley. His task is to ensure the peace and happiness of the mares he leads, to invite more females to reside within the Valley, and sire foals to those who wish for them. He provides companionship, the promise of stability, and strives to be a thoughtful ruler worth following. Those discontent with his rulings may speak to him or his Queen and they both promise to listen.

The Queen is not the King's favorite mare. She is the one he deems to be most responsible and capable of holding the fort while he is not around. She must be willing to keep the peace, to listen to other mare's complaints, and overall be someone worth putting above the others in an authority position. The maidens must respect her at all times if they wish to stay in Larkspur Valley. Gideon will not tolerate his Queen being mistreated.

The Heir is a colt of Gideon's blood that he has chosen to lead Larkspur Valley in the future. He does not have to be the first born - Gideon will choose one that wants to bear the future responsibility.

The Maidens are females that have either been fought for by Gideon, stolen by Gideon, or otherwise accepted an offer for them to reside in Larkspur Valley. Gideon holds no favorites among them and cares for them all equally. They have freedom to come and go as they wish, however they may not breed with another stallion or allow him to claim her. Gideon would be very upset by these acts of betrayal, and his only alternative would be to cast them out.

The Princes are any sons that Gideon has fathered among the herd.

The Princesses are any daughters that Gideon has fathered among the herd.

The Adopted are any foals not of Gideon's blood that he has adopted to raise as his own.

The Lost are any herd members that have been gone for over a month with no word on their whereabouts. Also includes those who have been stolen or lost in a fight.

The Mourned are any herd members that have been confirmed dead.

The Unwelcome are those who have incurred Gideon's personal wrath. They are not welcome in Larkspur Valley under any circumstances. Gideon will banish mares for reasons such as infidelity, overt disrespect to his Queen, and defilement of his name.

The Allies are equines who do not belong to Gideon's herd, but who have earned his trust and respect. In troubled times, they can count on him to help however he can.

The Beta King is the stallion that Gideon has generously chosen to share a land with. He will be subject to Gideon's rules, and will respect him at all times. He may not flirt with Gideon's mares, and Gideon may not flirt with his. He will take leadership of Larkspur Valley if Gideon is struck down without an heir.

The Beta Queen is the mare that the Beta King has chosen to help him police his herd. Gideon's Queen will have authority over her.

The Beta Heir is the foal of the Beta King's blood that he has chosen to take his place in the future.

The Beta Maidens are any mares that have chosen to live with the Beta King. They must get along with Gideon's Maidens.

The Beta Foals are any foals sired by the Beta King.
